偶然机缘穿越于过去和未来、东方和西方的罗马帝国浴场设计师路西斯·慕德斯特（阿部宽 饰），将“扁脸族”日本人的汤文化移植到罗马浴场的设计中来，由此得到皇帝哈德良（市村正亲 饰）以及国民的热爱和推崇。哈德良致力建立一个和平祥和的帝国，但是元老院则煽动人民的好战情绪，通过角斗场的血腥杀戮激发百姓的嗜血情怀。忧心忡忡的路西斯临危受命，数次回到日本寻找灵感，为受伤疲惫的奴隶战士以及远征在外的帝国继承者凯欧尼乌斯（北村一辉 饰）设计疗伤的浴场，于是便和转为温泉杂志编辑的山越真实（上户彩 饰）再度相逢。狂怒的暴风雨即将到来，路西斯和真实的命运被紧紧系在了一起…… 本片根据漫画家山崎麻里的同名原作改编。。When the single middle-aged Luis travels from Barcelona to bury the remains of his mother in the vault of his family in Segovia, he is lodged by his aunt Pilar in her old house where he spent his summer of 1936 with her.
