A group of students who are participating in a university's summer science camp are drawn into an incredible quagmire of conflicts, ranging from the relatively simple conflict between an engaging and forthright young teacher and his older manipulative colleague, to a contest pitting political correctness against free scientific inquiry. Despite the murkiness of some of the issues in the latter conflict, the students pitch in enthusiastically on what they believe to be the side of righteousness, and passions rise to fever pitch. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide。年轻美丽的青青（苏慧伦饰）是一个事业有成的平面手部模特，她与身为建筑设计师的丈夫阿雄（张翰饰）忙着各自的事业，二人鲜少交流，各自承受来自自身和外界的巨大压力；原住民夫妇必勇和阿美过着简朴的生活，他们起早贪黑，忘返台东和台北运送玉兰花，就为赚取少得可怜的生活费，且始终挂念漂泊台北的女儿莎薇（杜晓寒饰）；莎薇早年痛恨父母酗酒，她从家中逃离，依靠散打宣泄心中的愤懑和失意；失掉一条腿的牛角（高捷饰）开着改装后的卡车，和阿仙（张洋洋饰）四处游走，牛角寻找被人们丢弃的佛像，自认为没有好运气的阿仙则寻找各种各样的护身符，他们的生活仿佛就在路上。 一场意外车祸，改变了这群人的命运……。
