一百多年前，林家的祖先来到台湾岛，并在这里定居。林家两辈从医，祖父精通中医，父亲林汉敏擅长西医外科，平日在日本人八重开设的诊所内上班。某晚，汉敏的妻子待产，主刀医生八重却醉卧斗室，手足无措的汉敏只得硬着头皮为妻子剖腹。1928年4月9日，就在台湾被日本侵占的第33个年头，林家迎来了新的生命。而他们一家人，也注定在这纷乱时代中经历无数的悲欢离合。。影片讲述在向诚即将与现任女友小茹结婚之际，得知自己得了胃癌，几乎失落的他性情大变，没有向身边的人告知，也因此与女友吵架。后来与多年挚友天华吵架中告知真相，并在其协助下帮助向诚达成“临终前”的愿望：寻找已分手的前女友逐个表示愧疚之情。最后重病治愈，却招来前女友的集体探望。。Leila| a lonely young soul spends the night partying with her friends Nancy| David and Nash in a warehouse.
